The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification by MSI has been developed to test your fundamental understanding of both Six Sigma and Lean concepts at the Black Belt level.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belts are project leaders within their organization. They typically have a strong understanding of the DMAIC process as well as maximizing customer value while minimizing waste. They use Six Sigma and Lean processes throughout an organization-wide Lean Six Sigma quality improvement project. Lean Black Belts map out the current components of a process and identify which of those elements are waste. They then work to change or improve those wasteful elements and construct a new process that is leaner.

This Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification program includes the online certification exam. It also includes online study material which will assist you in preparing for the certification exam. Once certified, you’ll be mailed your physical certificate & transcripts in the mail.

Includes the Management and Strategy Institute’s exclusive BBsim™ Black Belt project simulation. This Six Sigma simulation walks you through different stages of a Six Sigma project so you’ll gain valuable experience. In the Black Belt simulation, you’ll need to decide which tools a Black Belt should use at different stages of the DMAIC process. Some of the decisions you’ll make include “what tool can you use to group the project tasks into a hierarchical order?”, “how will you identify and rank the potential failure modes?”, and “what tool is often used to test reliability and validity?”. The simulation will walk you step-by-step through each section and help put you inside the thought-process of a Black Belt as they conduct a project.

There are no prerequisites for the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification. The training material includes all of the course work required to learn the system. You do not need to be a certified Yellow Belt or Green Belt prior to taking this program.
Certification exams through the Management and Strategy Institute are designed to test your fundamental understanding of a subject. The Six Sigma Lean Black belt certification exam is an “open note” exam, meaning you may use any notes you’ve taken while studying. The exam is timed, so you will not be able to look up answers to questions while taking the test. You will not have access to the online study material while taking the exam and you may not stop the exam once it has begun. It is very important that you have a solid understanding of Six Sigma and Lean principles before attempting the exam or you will not pass. This certification is aligned with the MSI Six Sigma Black Belt Body of Knowledge.

The Six Sigma Lean Black Belt certification, by definition, is a high-level certification. It is designed to give you a solid understanding of most facets of Six Sigma. This also includes an understanding of Lean processes and how it is used in conjunction with Six Sigma. It does not require a project to complete. This professional development course was designed to teach someone with little knowledge of Six Sigma the basic skills needed to function as a Lean Black Belt on a Six Sigma team. All required training material is included with the cost of the exam. Many executive jobs today require that their employees have at least a basic understanding of Six Sigma. The training course is self-paced. Time to complete and fully comprehend will vary with every individual. It may take several days or weeks of study before you feel comfortable to take the final test. You may take the final exam as soon as you’re ready. You have 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the course.
This certification exam is timed with a limit of 3 hours. The exam is completed online from home or work. You may take the exam as soon as you are ready, it does not need to be scheduled in advance. All questions are multiple choice.
