The Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt Certification, developed exclusively for the Management and Strategy Institute, is designed to give the student a solid understanding of how to lead multiple Six Sigma teams to success. Master Black Belts typically devote 100% of their time to Six Sigma. They primarily focus on Six Sigma project execution, training, and supervision of Black Belts who are working on separate projects.
Master Black Belts act as a technical lead for organizations that may have multiple Six Sigma projects actively being managed.
For example, a manufacturer may have a Lean Six Sigma project that focuses on reducing waste within its production line. Simultaneously it may have a Kaizen project being implemented in its accounting department to streamline its accounts receivable. Each project would have a Black Belt assigned, but the Master Black Belt may oversee both projects and act as a technical advisor to ensure project success.
When not actively managing a project, Master Black Belts focus their time on training others within their organization. They train all levels of Six Sigma and train the elements that are specific to their industry and organization.
NEW – This program now includes full FREE access to the college textbook Introductory Business Statistics (ISBN: 978–1–947172–47–0). You can download it in PDF format to keep a personal copy. This book allows you to dig deeper into some of the more complex elements of Six Sigma and statistics such as Probability, Normal Distribution, The Central Limit Theorem, F Distribution, and more.
It is recommended that you hold a valid Six Sigma Black Belt certification (SSBBP, LBBP, LBBH, BBHR, LBBIT, SSBBG) through the Management and Strategy Institute or have the equivalent training or experience from another organization.

The Six Sigma Master Black Belt course, by definition, is a high-level certification. It is designed to give you a solid understanding of most facets of Six Sigma team leadership. It does not require a project to complete. This professional development course was designed to teach someone who is already certified, or has experience working as a Six Sigma Black Belt, the skills needed to function as a Master Black Belt on a Six Sigma team.
The training course is self-paced. Time to complete and fully comprehend will vary with every individual. It may take several days or weeks of study before you feel comfortable to take the final test. You may take the final exam as soon as you’re ready. You have 1 year from the date of purchase to complete the course.
Yes, MSI offers several options for those who would like to order a book to assist with their studies.
You must complete and pass two exams to receive your certification. Both tests are timed. The first test allows 120 minutes, the second test allows 150 minutes. You may take the test online from home or work whenever you are ready, it does not need to be scheduled in advance. All questions are multiple choice.
